Procedure for replacing the automatic transmission filter:
1. Lift the vehicle: Raise the front of the vehicle on a lift to provide access to the automatic transmission filter pan.
2. Drain the automatic transmission oil: Open the drain plug under the automatic transmission filter pan and collect the old fluid in a container.
3. Remove the automatic transmission filter pan: Use a socket wrench to loosen the bolts securing the automatic transmission filter pan and carefully remove it. Pay attention to the location of the old filter gasket.
4. Remove the old automatic transmission filter: Remove the old automatic transmission filter from the pan. Pay attention to the installation direction of the filter to ensure you install the new one correctly.
5. Install a new automatic transmission filter: Insert the new automatic transmission filter into the pan in the same direction as the old one.
6. Install a new automatic transmission filter gasket: Place the new automatic transmission filter gasket on the pan. Make sure it fits snugly and has no wrinkles or gaps.
7. Install the automatic transmission filter pan: Install the automatic transmission filter pan in place and tighten the fastening bolts crosswise.
8. Fill with new transmission fluid: Using a funnel, pour new transmission fluid into the automatic transmission through the filler hole.
9. Check the fluid level: Check the fluid level in the automatic transmission by warming up the engine and shifting the gear selector to all positions. Add liquid if necessary.
10. Lower the vehicle: Lower the vehicle to the ground and start the engine. Let the engine idle for a few minutes to allow the fluid to circulate.
11. Check for leaks: Check the automatic transmission filter pan for fluid leaks.
