Materials:
* Toyota ATF Type T-IV automatic transmission oil or similar, meeting manufacturer specifications
* Automatic transmission pan (if necessary)
* Automatic transmission filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Sealant for automatic transmission pan gasket
* Socket wrench
* Funnel
* Clean rag
Procedure for changing automatic transmission oil on a Toyota Prado 120:
1. Preparation
* Gather the necessary materials.
* Make sure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is turned off.
* Place a container to collect old oil under the automatic transmission.
2. Drain old oil
* Locate the drain plug on the automatic transmission pan. It is usually located at the bottom of the tray.
* Place a collection container under the drain plug.
* Carefully remove the drain plug using a socket wrench.
* Allow the old oil to drain completely.
3. Replacing the pan and automatic transmission filter (if necessary)
* If it is necessary to replace the pan or automatic transmission filter, remove the old pan using a socket wrench.
* Clean the surface of the pan and the filter seat from any remaining old oil and sealant.
* Install a new automatic transmission filter into the pan.
* Install a new gasket under the automatic transmission pan.
* Apply sealant to the gasket surface.
* Reinstall the automatic transmission pan and tighten the bolts.
4. Filling with new oil
* Locate the filler plug on the automatic transmission. It is usually located next to the automatic transmission dipstick.
* Insert a funnel into the filler plug.
* Fill the automatic transmission with new oil until the oil level reaches the “HOT” mark on the dipstick.
5. Checking the oil level
* Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
* Shift the gear selector to each position and return to the park position.
* Turn off the engine.
* Remove the automatic transmission dipstick, wipe it with a clean cloth and reinsert it into the automatic transmission.
* Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. The oil level should be between the «HOT» and «COLD» marks.
6. Installing the drain plug
* Install the drain plug and tighten it according to the torque specified in the repair manual.
7. Cleaning
* Clean all tools, rags and surfaces from any remaining oil.
8. Resetting the automatic transmission service counter (if necessary)
*If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission service counter, it must be reset after changing the oil. The reset procedure may vary depending on the vehicle model. Refer to your repair manual for detailed instructions.
Notes:
* Regularly changing automatic transmission oil will extend the life of the transmission.
* It is recommended to change the automatic transmission oil every 40,000-50,000 km, depending on operating conditions.
* Use only automatic transmission oil recommended by the manufacturer.
