Winter automatic transmission mode in Peugeot 308

The transmission’s winter mode (also known as snow mode) is designed to increase traction and prevent wheel spin on slippery roads such as snowy or icy roads. Here’s how to activate and use winter mode in a Peugeot 308 with automatic transmission:

1. Start the engine.
2. Select “D” (drive) mode.
3. Move the gear lever to the “W” position.

Location of the “W” mode switch:

The “W” mode switch is usually located at the front of the shift console, next to the transmission selector. It may be indicated by a snowflake symbol or a “W” icon.

Note:

* Winter mode remains active until you change the gear lever to another position.
* Winter mode can be useful not only in winter, but also on loose gravel or sand.

How winter mode works:

*Winter Mode modifies the transmission’s shift pattern to provide smooth acceleration and prevent wheel spin.
* It allows you to start driving from second gear, which reduces torque on the wheels and reduces the likelihood of slipping.
* Winter mode also adjusts the traction control system to be more sensitive and prevent wheel spin.

Advantages of winter mode:

* Increased traction on slippery roads
* Reduced chance of wheel slip
* Smooth acceleration and improved traction on snow or ice

When to use winter mode:

Winter mode should be used when driving on snowy, icy or other slippery surfaces. It can also be useful on loose gravel or sand. However, under normal driving conditions, winter mode is not necessary and may reduce vehicle performance.
