Using an automatic transmission in a Peugeot 308
Gear selector
*P (Park): Locks the transmission output shaft when the vehicle is stationary.
* R (Reverse): Activates reverse gear.
* N (Neutral): The transmission output shaft is not locked, but no torque is transmitted to the wheels.
* D (Drive): Normal driving mode for moving forward.
* M (Manual Mode): Allows the driver to manually change gears using the steering wheel shift levers.
Starting the engine
1. Press the brake pedal.
2. Move the gear selector to position P.
3. Insert the ignition key and start the engine.
Shifting gears
* From P to D/R: Press the brake pedal and move the gear selector to the desired position.
* From D/R to Neutral (N): Depress the brake pedal and move the gear selector to the N position.
* From Neutral (N) to P: Stop the vehicle and press the brake pedal. Move the gear selector to position P.
Manual mode (M)
* Upshift: Pull the left steering column stalk.
* Downshifting: Pull the right steering column stalk.
Important Tips
* Shift gears only with the brake pedal depressed.
* Do not shift to neutral (N) while driving downhill.
* Use M mode only in special situations, such as driving in mountainous areas or towing a trailer.
* When parking on a slope, always set the parking brake and move the gear selector to position P.
* Maintain the gearbox regularly to ensure trouble-free operation.
