Tools and materials:

* New automatic transmission oil (consult owner’s manual for specifications)
* Automatic transmission crankcase gasket
* Automatic transmission oil filter
*Long Nose Pliers
* Funnel
* 10 mm socket wrench
* 13 mm socket wrench
* Slotted screwdriver
* Gloves
* Bucket or tray for old oil

Instructions:

1. Prepare the car. Stop the engine, set the parking brake and let it cool. Jack up the front of the car and secure it on stands.

2. Find the automatic transmission housing. The crankcase is located at the bottom of the gearbox. It is usually a metal tray with bolts around the perimeter.

3. Drain the old oil. Place a bucket or tray under the automatic transmission housing. Using a 10mm socket wrench, carefully unscrew the drain plug and drain the oil. About 3-4 liters of oil may leak.

4. Replace the crankcase gasket. After the oil has drained, remove the old gasket from the crankcase. Clean the surfaces of the crankcase and gearbox from gasket residues. Install a new gasket on the crankcase.

5. Replace the oil filter. The automatic transmission oil filter is usually located on the side of the transmission. Using long nose pliers, remove the oil filter. Lubricate the new O-ring and install the new filter.

6. Install the automatic transmission housing. Apply a small amount of sealant to the surface of the crankcase where it meets the transmission. Reinstall the crankcase and tighten the bolts using a 13mm socket wrench.

7. Fill with new oil. Remove the automatic transmission oil level dipstick and fill in new oil through a funnel. Fill with approximately 3 liters of oil.

8. Check the oil level. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Shift the gear lever to different positions, holding each position for a few seconds.

9. Turn off the engine and check the oil level again. If the level is low, add a little more oil.

10. Reset the “Change automatic transmission oil” indicator. If your car is equipped with a “Change automatic transmission oil” indicator, it must be reset after changing the oil. Check your vehicle’s owner’s manual for the specific procedure for your model.

11. Check for leaks. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check the automatic transmission housing and connections for leaks. If leaks are found, tighten bolts or replace seals as necessary.
