Tools:

* Set of keys and sockets
* Flat blade screwdriver
* Crescent key
* Oil can

Materials:

* New automatic transmission heat exchanger gasket
* Transmission fluid

Steps:

1. Safety: Disconnect the battery by placing the negative terminal to ground.
2. Drain the transmission fluid: Open the drain plug of the automatic transmission pan and drain the fluid into a clean pan. Tighten the plug to a torque of 40 Nm.
3. Remove the heat exchanger:
— Open the hood and disconnect the air pipe leading to the throttle body.
— Disconnect the hydraulic cooler hoses from the heat exchanger. Unscrew the fittings using a crescent wrench.
— Unscrew the bolts securing the heat exchanger to the automatic transmission.
4. Removing the gasket:
— Remove the heat exchanger from the automatic transmission.
— Remove the old gasket from the surface of the heat exchanger and the automatic transmission housing. Clean both surfaces of old sealant.
5. Installing a new gasket:
— Apply a thin layer of high temperature sealant to the gasket surface.
— Place a new gasket on the heat exchanger and tighten the mounting bolts to a torque of 10 Nm.
6. Heat exchanger installation:
— Reinstall the heat exchanger and tighten the mounting bolts to a torque of 40 Nm.
— Connect the hydraulic cooler hoses to the heat exchanger and tighten the fittings.
— Reinstall the air pipe.
7. Fill with transmission fluid:
— Open the filler plug on the automatic transmission and fill in new transmission oil to the level indicated on the dipstick.
— Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Check the fluid level and add if necessary.
8. Troubleshooting:
— Make sure there are no transmission fluid leaks and tighten the fittings and bolts if necessary.
— Renew the automatic transmission fluid every 60,000 km or according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
