Required materials:

* New automatic transmission oil that meets the specification specified in your vehicle’s owner’s manual (usually Toyota ATF WS)
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Automatic transmission oil filter (if equipped)
* Sealant for automatic transmission
* Washers for the drain plug (if possible)
* Funnel
* Wrench or ratchet
* Container for draining old oil

Instructions:

1. Preparation:

* Start the engine and drive the transmission through all gears. This will help thin the oil and make it easier to drain.
* Stop the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to drain into the pan.
* Place the car on a level surface.
* Park the car.

2. Draining old oil:

* Place a container under the car to drain the old oil.
* Locate the drain plug on the automatic transmission pan.
* Using a wrench or ratchet, loosen the drain plug. Be careful as the oil may be hot.
* Allow the oil to drain completely.
* Remove the old automatic transmission pan gasket.

3. Filter replacement (if applicable):

* If your model has an automatic transmission filter, it must be replaced.
* Find the filter and unscrew it using a wrench or ratchet.
* Lubricate the O-ring of the new filter with fresh automatic transmission oil.
* Screw in the new filter by hand and then tighten it using a wrench or ratchet.

4. Installing the automatic transmission pan:

* Apply a small amount of automatic transmission sealant to the surface of the pan where it will contact the transmission.
* Install the automatic transmission pan and tighten the bolts diagonally to the recommended tightening torque (see owner’s manual).
* Install a new drain plug gasket and tighten the plug.

5. Filling with new oil:

* Using a funnel, pour new automatic transmission oil into the filler hole on the gearbox.
* Fill in as much oil as was drained.
* Check the oil level using the automatic transmission dipstick. The oil level should be between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks. (For cars with an electronic dipstick, check the oil level using an OBD2 scanner).

6. Cleaning:

* Wipe up any spilled oil around the transmission.
* Dispose of drained oil properly.

7. Leak check:

* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Shift through all gears and return to park position.
* Check under the car for leaks.

Notes:

* Partial automatic transmission oil change allows you to update about 40-50% of the total oil volume.
* To completely change the automatic transmission oil, you will need special equipment for flushing the gearbox.
* Check the automatic transmission oil level and condition regularly to ensure optimal transmission performance.
