Required materials and tools:
* New transmission oil meeting Toyota specifications (typically ATF WS fluid is used)
* Oil pan and automatic transmission filter (optional)
* Funnel
* Keys or wrenches
* Rags or paper towels
* Torque wrench (optional)
Procedure:
1. Preparing the car
* Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
* Turn off the engine and put it on the handbrake.
2. Drain the old oil
* Place a container under the automatic transmission pan.
* Loosen the drain plug on the pan with a wrench or wrench. Be careful as the oil may be hot.
* Allow the oil to drain completely.
* Replace the drain plug and tighten it using a torque wrench to the torque specified in the manual.
3. Removing the pan and filter (optional)
* If you decide to replace the automatic transmission pan and filter, follow these steps:
* Unscrew the bolts securing the pallet and remove the pallet.
*Remove the old filter and install a new one.
* Reinstall the pan and tighten the bolts using a torque wrench.
4. Fill with new oil
* Insert a funnel into the dipstick hole.
* Fill with new oil until the level reaches the upper mark on the dipstick.
* Remove the funnel and replace the dipstick.
5. Checking the oil level
* Start the engine and wait until it warms up to operating temperature.
* Shift the gear selector to different positions and return it to Park (P) position.
* Remove the dipstick, wipe it, reinsert it and remove it.
* The oil level should be between the “hot” and “cold” marks on the dipstick.
6. Re-check the oil level
* Drive your car for about 10 km and park on a level surface.
* Check the oil level again as described in point 5.
* If necessary, add oil to the required level.
