Changing the automatic transmission oil on a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport with a gasoline engine
Required tools and materials:
* Automatic transmission drain plug
* Drain plug gasket
* Automatic transmission pan plug
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Automatic transmission filter
* Automatic transmission filter gasket
* Automatic transmission oil (about 4-5 liters required)
* Funnel
* Keys or ratchet
* Rags or clean napkins
* Container for draining old oil
Oil change steps:
1. Preparation
* Make sure the engine and automatic transmission are warm, but not hot.
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Drain old oil
* Locate the drain plug at the bottom of the automatic transmission pan.
* Using a wrench or ratchet, loosen and unscrew the drain plug.
* Drain the old oil into a prepared container.
* Remove the old drain plug gasket and clean the surface.
* Install a new gasket on the drain plug and tighten it.
3. Removing the automatic transmission pan
* Find the automatic transmission pan mounting bolts.
* Loosen and unscrew the bolts using a wrench or ratchet.
* Remove the automatic transmission pan with care.
* Remove the old pan gasket and clean the surfaces.
4. Replacing the automatic transmission filter
* Remove the old automatic transmission filter.
*Insert the new filter and make sure it fits tightly.
* Install a new filter gasket on the filter cover.
5. Installing the automatic transmission pan
* Apply some sealant to the new pan gasket.
* Reinstall the pan on the automatic transmission and tighten the mounting bolts.
*Tighten the bolts using a torque wrench to manufacturer specifications.
6. Filling with new oil
* Locate the automatic transmission filler neck, usually located at the top of the transmission.
* Insert a funnel into the filler neck and fill in new automatic transmission oil.
* Add about 3-4 liters of oil and check the level with the automatic transmission dipstick.
7. Checking the oil level
* Start the engine and shift through all gears.
* Leave the engine idling and check the oil level using the dipstick.
*If necessary, add oil to the recommended level.

* Replace the automatic transmission filter every 50,000-60,000 km.
