Materials required for changing the oil in an Opel Antara automatic transmission:

* New gear oil (Opel branded oil recommended) — about 4 liters
* New automatic transmission oil filter
* New automatic transmission oil pan gasket
* New automatic transmission oil pan drain plug bolt
* Funnel for filling oil
* Hexagon 5 mm
* 13 mm wrench
* 19mm wrench
* Container for draining used oil (at least 5 liters)
* Gloves

Instructions for changing the oil in an automatic transmission Opel Antara:

1. Preparation

* Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
* Wear gloves and prepare necessary materials.

2. Draining used oil

* Locate the automatic transmission oil pan drain plug. It is located at the bottom of the pallet.
* Place a container under the drain hole to drain the used oil.
* Loosen the drain plug with a 5mm hex and unscrew it by hand.
* Drain the used oil into a container. Be careful, the oil may be hot.

3. Removing the automatic transmission pan

* When all the oil has drained, clean the drain plug and reinstall it. Tighten it to the required torque (25 Nm).
* Loosen the automatic transmission oil pan mounting bolts with a 13 mm wrench.
* Remove the pan carefully as there may be a small amount of oil left in it.

4. Replacing the oil filter

* Remove the old oil filter from the automatic transmission pan.
* Install the new oil filter and tighten it with the mounting bolts.

5. Installing the automatic transmission pan

* Clean the contact surface of the pan and the automatic transmission unit.
* Install a new automatic transmission pan gasket.
* Reinstall the pan and tighten the mounting bolts with a 13 mm wrench. Tighten the bolts to the required torque (10 Nm).

6. Filling with new oil

* Locate the automatic transmission filler hole. It is located on top of the gearbox.
* Insert a funnel into the filler hole and fill in new gear oil.
* Fill in about 3 liters of oil and check the level.

7. Checking the oil level

* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Shift through all gears, holding each gear for a few seconds.
* Return the gear selector to Park.
* Stop the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to drain into the pan.
* Remove the automatic transmission oil dipstick and check the oil level.
* The oil level should be between the «Min» and «Max» marks on the dipstick.
*Add oil if necessary.

8. Resetting the oil aging counter

* If your vehicle has an automatic transmission oil aging counter, it must be reset after changing the oil.
*Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for instructions on how to reset the meter.

9. Completion

* Reinstall the automatic transmission oil dipstick.
* Clean all tools and work surface.
*Take a test drive to check if the automatic transmission operates properly.
