Location of the oil pump automatic transmission Hyundai Sonata

The automatic transmission oil pump in a Hyundai Sonata is usually located inside the automatic transmission housing.

Removing and installing the oil pump of the Hyundai Sonata automatic transmission

Removal:

1. Raise the vehicle on a lift.
2. Remove the crankcase protection (if equipped).
3. Disconnect the battery.
4. Drain the automatic transmission fluid.
5. Remove the automatic transmission pan.
6. Unscrew the bolts securing the oil pump to the automatic transmission housing.
7. Remove the oil pump.

Installation:

1. Clean the surface of the automatic transmission housing where the oil pump will be installed.
2. Apply sealant to the oil pump O-ring surface.
3. Install the oil pump on the automatic transmission housing and tighten the mounting bolts.
4. Install the automatic transmission pan and tighten the fastening bolts.
5. Fill the automatic transmission with fluid.
6. Connect the battery.
7. Lower the vehicle.

* Wrench set
* Screwdriver
* Sealant for automatic transmission
* Lift or jacks and stands
* Container for draining liquid

Adviсe:

* When removing the oil pump, a small amount of fluid may leak out. Prepare a container to collect the liquid.
* Use only automatic transmission fluid recommended by the manufacturer.
* Check the condition of the oil pickup screen and replace it if necessary.
* After installing the oil pump, it is recommended to flush the automatic transmission system to remove possible contamination.
