Volkswagen automatic transmission oil
Original oils
* ATF 1: Officially certified for use in all Volkswagen automatic transmissions with torque converter lock-up.
* ATF 2: intended for use in late-model Volkswagen vehicles with a dual-clutch automatic transmission (DSG).
* ATF 3: developed specifically for dry clutch DSG transmissions used in some Volkswagen models.
* ATF 4: the latest original oil designed for use in Volkswagen automatic transmissions from 2017.
Important information
* Use only original Volkswagen automatic transmission oils. Non-original oils can cause problems with the transmission.
* Check the gearbox oil level regularly and top up if necessary.
* Follow the oil change intervals recommended in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
*Always drain the old oil and replace it with a new filter when changing the transmission oil.
Double clutch gearboxes (DSG)
* DSG models with mo clutch (DQ200, DQ250, DQ500) require the use of ATF 1 or ATF 4.
*DSG models with dry clutch (DQ200, DQ250) require ATF 3.
Automatic transmissions with torque converter
*All torque converter automatic transmissions (6-speed, 8-speed, 10-speed) require ATF 1 or ATF 4.
Note: Be sure to check your vehicle’s owner’s manual to determine the correct type of oil for your transmission.
