Checking the oil level in a Nissan Tiida automatic transmission

Required tools:

* Dipstick
* Rag or paper towel

Procedure:

1. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
2. Place the gear shift lever in the “P” (park) position.
3. Stop the engine.
4. Wait a few minutes for the oil to drain into the pan.
5. Open the hood.
6. Find the automatic transmission oil level dipstick. It is usually brightly colored and labeled “ATF”.
7. Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean rag or paper towel.
8. Insert the dipstick back into the tube and remove it again.
9. Check the oil level on the dipstick. It should be between the “HOT” (hot) and “COLD” (cold) marks.

Notes:

* The oil level should be checked when the engine and gearbox are warm.
* If the oil level is below the “COLD” mark, add fluid. Use only manufacturer-recommended ATF.
* If the oil level is above the “HOT” mark, excess fluid must be drained.
* Do not overfill fluid as this may cause problems with the transmission.
* Check the automatic transmission oil level regularly, especially before long trips.
