Checking the oil level in an automatic transmission (automatic transmission) Chevrolet Captiva

Required tools:

* Automatic transmission dipstick
* Cloth for cleaning the dipstick

Instructions:

1. Prepare the car. Place the vehicle on a level surface with the engine running and idling.
2. Locate the automatic transmission dipstick. It is usually located in the engine compartment at the rear of the automatic transmission.
3. Pull out and wipe the dipstick. Pull the dipstick handle and wipe it with a clean cloth.
4. Insert the dipstick back. Insert the dipstick completely into the hole and remove it again.
5. Check the oil level. The oil film on the dipstick should be between the “HOT” (hot) and “COLD” (cold) marks.
6. Add oil if necessary. If the oil level is below the “HOT” mark, add oil through the filler hole located on the automatic transmission housing. Use oil that meets the manufacturer’s recommendations.
7. Check the oil level again. Repeat steps 3-5 to ensure the oil level is within the correct range.
8. Insert the dipstick into place. Insert the dipstick completely back into the hole.

Note:

* Check the automatic transmission oil level regularly, especially before long trips.
* Do not overfill oil, as this may damage the automatic transmission.
* If you notice an oil leak from the automatic transmission, you must fix it immediately.
