Where is:
Located on the gearbox housing next to the drain plug.
Replacement frequency:
* According to GM regulations — every 100,000 km.
* It is recommended to change more often, especially if the car is used aggressively.
Tools required for replacement:
* 8 mm hexagon
* Funnel
* Wrench or socket for unscrewing the drain plug
Replacement procedure:
1. Place the car on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Add transmission oil through the filler plug to compensate for leakage when replacing the filter.
3. Place a tray under the drain hole.
4. Unscrew the drain plug with an 8 mm hexagon and drain the oil.
5. Unscrew the oil filter mounting bolts.
6. Remove the old oil filter.
7. Clean the filter seat from dirt and oil residues.
8. Apply a thin layer of new oil to the gasket of the new filter.
9. Install the new filter in place and tighten the mounting bolts.
10. Screw on the drain plug with a new gasket.
11. Fill the transmission with new oil through the filler plug in accordance with GM regulations or the level indicated on the dipstick.
12. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
13. Check the oil level in the gearbox and, if necessary, add to the required level.
