Required tools and materials:
* New gear oil (the quantity depends on the model and year of manufacture of the car)
* Transmission pan gasket
* Transmission filter (not always required)
* New drain plug
* Funnel for filling oil
* Keys or ratchet with heads
* Lift or jack and stands
* Container for draining old oil
Replacement procedure:
1. Place the vehicle on a lift or jacks. Make sure the vehicle is securely secured.
2. Drain the old oil. Locate the transmission pan drain plug and place a container under it to drain the oil. Loosen and remove the plug to drain the old oil.
3. Remove the transmission pan. Once the oil is completely drained, remove the bolts holding the transmission pan in place. Carefully unclip the tray and remove it.
4. Clean the tray and magnet. Clean the transmission pan and magnet from metal shavings and dirt.
5. Replace the transmission filter (if necessary). Depending on the vehicle model, the transmission filter may need to be replaced. Find the filter and replace it with a new one.
6. Install a new pan gasket. Apply sealant to the new transmission pan gasket and install it.
7. Install the transmission pan. Reinstall the transmission pan and tighten the bolts.
8. Replace the drain plug. Install a new drain plug with a new gasket.
9. Fill with new transmission oil. Using a funnel, pour the required amount of new gear oil into the gearbox.
10. Check the oil level. Start the engine and let it idle. Use the dipstick to check the oil level and add oil to the correct level if necessary.
11. Reset the transmission service counter. On some vehicle models, you may need to reset the transmission service counter after changing the oil. Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual for instructions on how to do this.
