Materials and tools:

* Automatic transmission oil meeting Toyota WS specifications (approximately 5 liters)
* New automatic transmission oil filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Torque wrench
* Funnel
* Heads for 10, 12, 17, 19 mm
* Pliers
* Measuring container
* Gloves

Procedure:

1. Prepare the car: Place the car on a level surface and set the parking brake. Allow the engine to cool if it has been running.

2. Raise the vehicle: Raise the vehicle using a jack or lift. Install supports for added safety.

3. Drain the old oil: Find the automatic transmission pan under the car. Unscrew the pan drain plug using a 17 mm socket. Drain the old oil into a measuring container to determine the volume.

4. Remove the automatic transmission pan: Unscrew the bolts securing the pan to the automatic transmission housing using a 10 mm socket. Carefully remove the pan and drain the remaining oil.

5. Replace the oil filter: Remove the old oil filter from the pan. Apply a small amount of new oil to the new filter gasket and install it in place.

6. Install a new automatic transmission pan: Place the pan gasket in place and install the pan on the automatic transmission housing. Tighten the pan bolts with a torque wrench to 12 Nm.

7. Fill in new oil: Fill in new oil through the hole in the automatic transmission dipstick using a funnel. The volume of oil added must correspond to the volume of oil drained.

8. Check the oil level: Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature. Switch the automatic transmission selector to all positions and return to the parking position.

9. Check the oil level with the dipstick: Remove the automatic transmission dipstick, wipe it with a clean cloth and reinsert it. The oil level should be between the “cold” and “hot” marks on the dipstick.

10. Lower the vehicle: Lower the vehicle from a jack or lift.

11. Reset the automatic transmission oil aging counter: Start the engine and insert the key into the ignition. Do not start the engine. Quickly press and release the brake pedal 10 times within 10 seconds. Turn off the ignition and wait 5 seconds. Repeat the procedure two more times.

Notes:

* It is recommended to change the automatic transmission oil every 60,000-100,000 km or in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
* Be careful when draining the oil as it may be hot.
* Do not overtighten the pan bolts as this may cause damage.
* Using low-quality oil or filter can lead to problems with the automatic transmission.
