Required tools and materials:

* New gear oil (volume depends on model and year of manufacture)
* New transmission oil filter
* Transmission pan gasket
* Funnel
* Set of keys or hex keys
* Shoulder bolt with washer
* Pliers
* Wiping materials

Steps:

1. Raise the car on a lift or place it on stands.

2. Identify the transmission pan. It will be located at the bottom of the transmission.

3. Clean around the tray. Remove dirt or debris to prevent it from entering the transmission.

4. Disconnect the drain bolt. Place a container under the bolt to catch the used oil.

5. Drain the used oil into a container. The oil will drain within a few minutes.

6. Install a new drain bolt. Torque the bolt to manufacturer specifications.

7. Remove the transmission pan. Unscrew the bolts holding the pan and carefully remove it.

8. Replace the transmission oil filter. The filter is usually located inside the pan.

9. Check the pan gasket. Replace it with a new one if it looks damaged or worn.

10. Place the gasket on the pan and install it back. Torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications.

11. Fill the transmission with new oil. Using a funnel, add the required amount of new oil.

12. Check the oil level. Start the engine and shift through all gears. Then check the oil level through the oil pan inspection hole located on the side of the transmission. Add oil as needed.

13. Dispose of used oil and filter. Follow local disposal regulations.

Notes:

* It is recommended to change the transmission oil every 40,000-60,000 km or according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
* Use gear oil recommended by the manufacturer.
*Tighten bolts and nuts to manufacturer specifications.
*If you are inexperienced, it is recommended that you have your automatic transmission oil changed by a qualified mechanic.
