Materials:
* Nissan automatic transmission filter (part number: 31728-31U03)
* Nissan automatic transmission pan gasket (part number: 31397-31X06)
* Fluid for automatic transmissions Dextron III or VI (volume: 4-5 liters)
Tools:
* Wrench set
* Flat head screwdriver
* 14 mm socket wrench
* Funnel
* Measuring container
* Rags
Steps:
1. Draining the automatic transmission fluid:
* Warm up the car and turn on the engine.
* Shift the gear lever to the «P» (park) position.
* Find the drain plug on the automatic transmission pan (it is located at the bottom of the pan).
* Place a suitable container under the tray.
* Unscrew the drain plug and drain the automatic transmission fluid.
2. Removing the automatic transmission pan:
* Locate the automatic transmission pan mounting bolts around the perimeter of the pan.
* Loosen the bolts without completely unscrewing them.
* Carefully pry up the pan with a flat-head screwdriver and disconnect it from the automatic transmission housing.
* Remove the old gasket.
3. Replacing the automatic transmission filter:
* Locate the automatic transmission filter in the center of the automatic transmission pan.
* Disconnect the filter from the pan.
* Place the new filter on the tray and secure it.
4. Installing the automatic transmission pan:
* Apply a thin layer of new automatic transmission oil to the pan gasket.
* Install the pan on the automatic transmission housing and tighten the bolts to the required torque (see repair manual).
5. Filling fluid into the automatic transmission:
* Using a funnel, pour new automatic transmission fluid into the filler plug on the side of the automatic transmission.
* Fill in approximately 3 liters of liquid.
6. Checking the automatic transmission fluid level:
* Start the engine and shift the gear lever to the «P» (park) position.
* Let the engine idle for a few minutes.
* Remove the automatic transmission fluid level dipstick and wipe it.
* Reinsert the dipstick and check the fluid level.
* The fluid level should be between the hot (H) and cold (C) marks on the dipstick.
7. Adding automatic transmission fluid:
*If the fluid level is too low, add some more fluid through the fill plug.
* Repeat the previous step until the fluid level is within normal limits.
8. Resetting the automatic transmission computer:
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for 5 minutes.
* Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Start the engine and move the gear lever to all positions for a few seconds.
* Turn off the engine and remove the key.
9. Test drive:
* Drive the car to check the operation of the automatic transmission.
* After a few days, check the automatic transmission fluid level again.
