Changing the oil in the automatic transmission Nissan X-Trail 2011
Tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission oil (approximately 6 l)
* Filter for automatic transmission
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Funnel
* Wrench set
* Screwdriver
* Rags
Replacement procedure:
1. Place the car on a level surface and warm up the engine. This will dilute the oil in the automatic transmission, making it easier to drain.
2. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. This will prevent short circuits during oil changes.
3. Raise the car on a lift or place it on jacks. Make sure the vehicle is securely secured.
4. Identify the automatic transmission pan. It is usually located at the bottom of the gearbox.
5. Clean the automatic transmission pan and the surrounding area. This will prevent dirt from getting into the transmission.
6. Unscrew the automatic transmission pan bolts. Use a suitable wrench. Be careful not to drop the bolts into the pan.
7. Drain the oil from the automatic transmission. Place a container under the pan to collect used oil.
8. Remove the automatic transmission pan. Carefully remove the pan, paying attention to the gasket.
9. Replace the automatic transmission filter. Locate the filter inside the pan and remove it. Install a new filter.
10. Clean the automatic transmission pan and magnet. Use a clean rag to remove any remaining oil and metal particles from the pan and magnet.
11. Install a new automatic transmission pan gasket. Make sure the gasket is positioned correctly and is not damaged.
12. Install the automatic transmission pan and tighten the bolts. Tighten the bolts evenly and to the correct torque.
13. Add new oil to the automatic transmission. Use a funnel and pour new oil into the automatic transmission filler plug.
14. Check the oil level. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Then shift through each gear several times. Check the oil level and add as necessary.
15. Reset the automatic transmission maintenance counter. This can be done using a diagnostic scanner.
Note:
* To extend the life of the automatic transmission, it is recommended to change the oil and filter every 60,000 km or 4 years.
*Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for exact instructions and specifications on changing the automatic transmission oil.
