Replacement procedure:

1. Preparation

* Put the car on the parking brake.
* Chock the rear of the vehicle for added safety.
* Allow the engine to cool for at least 30 minutes.

2. Draining transmission fluid

* Locate the drain plug in the automatic transmission pan; it is usually located at the rear of the pan.
* Place the drain pan under the drain plug.
* Carefully unscrew the drain plug with a wrench and allow the fluid to drain into the pan.

3. Removing the automatic transmission pan

* Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan to the gearbox.
* Carefully pry the pan with a screwdriver to remove it from the transmission.
* Support the drip pan when it is lowered to prevent any remaining liquid from leaking out.

* Install the new filter into the housing. Make sure it fits snugly.
* Install a new filter gasket on the automatic transmission pan.

5. Installing the automatic transmission pan

* Lift the automatic transmission pan into place and align it with the transmission.
* Tighten the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan to the recommended torque.

6. Filling transmission fluid

*Use a funnel and thin hose to pour fluid through the dipstick tube.
* Pour in the required amount of liquid.

7. Checking the fluid level

* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Shift the gear lever to all positions and return it to the park position.
* Check the fluid level using the dipstick. Add fluid as needed until it reaches the “hot” mark on the dipstick.
