Shifting gears on a Nissan Qashqai with an automatic transmission:
1. Press the brake pedal. This will enable parking mode (P).
2. Move the gear shift lever to the desired gear position:
*P (Parking): Locks the wheels to prevent movement. Used when parking.
* R (Reverse): Shifts into reverse gear.
* N (Neutral): Disconnects the engine from the transmission, allowing the vehicle to roll freely. Used for towing or rolling a car.
* D (Drive): Primary gear for normal driving.
*S (Sport): Provides quicker shifts and more responsive acceleration. Used for more aggressive driving.
* L (Low): Used for driving at low speeds and with increased torque. Suitable for off-road or steep climbs.
3. Release the brake pedal. The car will start moving in the selected gear.
Note:
* Shifting to neutral (N) while driving is not recommended.
* Shift into park gear (P) only after the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
* To change gears from P to D or R, the brake pedal must be depressed.
