Diagnostics

* Connect the diagnostic scanner to the vehicle’s OBDII connector.
* Read transmission related fault codes.

Removing the gearbox

* Raise the car and place it on supports.
* Drain the transmission fluid.
* Disconnect the electrical connectors from the transmission.
* Disconnect control cables and cooling lines.
* Unscrew the driveshaft.
* Remove the lower transmission-to-engine bolts.
*Hang the gearbox on a jack.
* Remove the upper mounting bolts and pull out the gearbox.

Disassembling the gearbox

* Unscrew the gearbox housing bolts.
* Divide the body into two halves.
* Remove internal components, including planetary gears, brake bands and clutch packs.

Inspection and repair

* Carefully inspect the transmission components for wear or damage.
* Replace any damaged or worn components.
* Clean all parts.
* Install new seals and gaskets.

Gearbox assembly

* Reassemble the internal components in reverse order.
* Fasten the two halves of the body.
* Install the gearbox into the car.

Gearbox Installation

* Reinstall the gearbox and tighten the upper mounting bolts.
* Install the driveshaft.
* Connect electrical connectors, control cables and cooling lines.
* Fill with new transmission fluid.

Resetting fault codes

* Connect the diagnostic scanner to the vehicle’s OBDII connector.
* Reset transmission related fault codes.

Examination

* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Check for smooth gear shifting.
* Check for fluid leaks.
