Required tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission oil (Dexron VI or recommended by the manufacturer)
* Funnel for liquid
* Drain plug key
* New automatic transmission oil filter (if applicable)
* Oil pan gasket
* Flat head screwdriver
* Bucket or container for draining used oil
* Gloves
* Pressure hose (optional)
Instructions:
1. Place the vehicle on a lift or use ramps.
2. Remove the crankcase protection (if equipped).
3. Warm up the engine to operating temperature.
4. Stop the engine and put it in park.
5. Locate the automatic transmission oil pan drain plug. It is usually located at the bottom of the tray.
6. Place a bucket or container under the drain plug.
7. Carefully unscrew the drain plug.
8. Allow the used oil to drain completely into the container. This may take some time.
9. Install the drain plug and tighten it firmly.
10. Find the automatic transmission oil filter. It is usually located on the side or bottom of the transmission.
11. Loosen the bolts securing the oil filter.
12. Carefully remove the oil filter.
13. Apply a small amount of new oil to the O-ring of the new oil filter.
14. Install the new oil filter and tighten the bolts.
15. Install a new oil pan gasket.
16. Fill the automatic transmission with new oil through the oil dipstick hole. Use a funnel for liquid.
17. Add the required amount of oil according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
18. Check the oil level using the dipstick.
19. Install the oil dipstick.
20. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
21. Shift gears several times and stop in Park mode.
22. Check the oil level again and add if necessary.
23. Reinstall the crankcase protection.
Note:
*If you do not have a drain plug on the automatic transmission oil pan, you will have to remove the pan to drain the used oil.
*Always follow your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations regarding the type and amount of automatic transmission oil to use.
* Regular automatic transmission oil changes will extend the life of the transmission and ensure its optimal performance.
