Replacing a filter in a Nissan Almera Classic automatic transmission
Tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Automatic transmission oil
* Set of keys
* Oil drain container
* Clean rag
Instructions:
1. Preparation:
* Place the car on a flat surface.
* Make sure the engine is stopped and the transmission is in park.
2. Draining the oil:
* Unscrew the automatic transmission pan drain plug using a 17 mm wrench.
* Wait until approximately 3 liters of oil have drained.
3. Removing the automatic transmission pan:
* Unscrew the automatic transmission pan bolts using a 10 mm wrench.
* Carefully move the pan and drain the remaining oil.
* Replace the pan gasket with a new one.
4. Filter replacement:
* Unscrew the automatic transmission filter mounting bolts using a 10 mm wrench.
*Remove the old filter and install a new one.
* Make sure the new filter is installed correctly by aligning the arrow on the filter with the direction of oil flow.
5. Installing the automatic transmission pan:
* Reinstall the pan and tighten the mounting bolts using a 10mm wrench.
* Tighten the drain plug using a 17mm wrench.
6. Oil filling:
* Fill in new automatic transmission oil through the filler plug.
*The amount of oil required depends on the car model. Usually about 3 liters are required.
*Use a funnel to prevent contaminants from entering the oil.
7. Checking the oil level:
* Start the engine and shift the transmission to all positions.
* Pull out the automatic transmission oil dipstick and check the level.
*Add oil as necessary until the level reaches the «HOT» mark on the dipstick.
8. Resetting the automatic transmission oil meter:
* To reset the automatic transmission oil meter, connect a diagnostic scanner to the vehicle.
* Find the automatic transmission section and reset the counter.
9. Check:
* Drive the car and check if the transmission operates correctly.
* Make sure there are no oil leaks.
