Neutral position (N)

The neutral position on the automatic transmission is indicated by the letter N. This position means that the transmission is not connected to either the input or output shaft of the transmission.

Features of the neutral position:

* The engine is running, but the car is not moving.
* Wheels do not rotate.
*Transmission fluid is still circulating through the transmission.

Using the neutral position:

The neutral position is usually used in the following cases:

* Stopping the vehicle: Before moving the transmission selector to the Park (P) position.
* Towing a vehicle: When towing a vehicle, to avoid damage to the transmission.
*Forced downshifting: In some vehicle models, such as when driving on a steep incline or passing another vehicle.
* Rocking a stuck vehicle: To create momentum to pull the vehicle out of the mud or snow.

Warnings:

* Shifting to neutral while driving is not recommended as this may cause you to lose control of the vehicle.
* Do not leave the vehicle in neutral without using the parking brake, as this may cause the vehicle to move.
