Tools and materials:

* New automatic transmission filter (it is recommended to use the original Mitsubishi filter)
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* ATF fluid (fluid type must comply with manufacturer’s recommendations)
* Wrench set
* Funnel
* Container for collecting old fluid

Replacement procedure:

1. Prepare the car: Park the car on a level surface and place it in the parking lot. Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Drain the old fluid: Find the drain plug on the automatic transmission pan. Place a container under the drain plug and loosen it. Drain all old fluid into a container. Tighten the drain plug.
3. Remove the automatic transmission pan: Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan to the automatic transmission housing. Carefully remove the tray.
4. Replace the automatic transmission filter: Remove the old automatic transmission filter from the pan. Clean the tray of any dirt. Install the new automatic transmission filter into the pan, making sure it fits correctly.
5. Install the automatic transmission pan gasket: Clean the surface of the automatic transmission pan where the gasket is installed. Install a new gasket on the pan.
6. Install the automatic transmission pan: Install the automatic transmission pan onto the automatic transmission housing and tighten the bolts. Make sure the pan fits well to prevent leaks.
7. Fill with new ATF: Using a funnel, pour new ATF into the automatic transmission filler hole. Fill with the amount of fluid specified in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
8. Start the engine and check the fluid level: Start the engine and let it idle. Check the ATF fluid level using the automatic transmission dipstick. Make sure the level is within the specified limits.
9. Connect the negative terminal of the battery: Connect the negative terminal of the battery. Reset the automatic transmission adaptive settings by following the instructions in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
10. Check for leaks: Check the transmission pan and around it for leaks. If leaks are found, tighten the bolts or replace the gasket.
