Tools and materials:
* New oil for Mitsubishi CVTF-J1 variator
* New oil pan gasket
* Set of keys
* Funnel
* Oil drain pan
Oil change procedure:
1. Preparation
* Warm up the engine and transmission by driving for several kilometers.
* Turn off the engine and place the car on stands.
2. Drain old oil
* Locate the CVT oil pan under the vehicle.
* Unscrew the drain plug and drain the oil into the pan.
* Replace the pan gasket.
3. Filling with new oil
* Reinstall the oil pan and tighten the drain plug.
* Locate the oil filler plug on the transmission.
*Using a funnel, pour new CVTF-J1 oil into the transmission until it starts to flow out of the filler neck.
* Close the filler cap.
4. Checking the oil level
* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Shift the gear selector to different positions and return it back to the park position.
* Check the oil level using the dipstick. The oil level should be between the «MIN» and «MAX» marks.
5. Resetting the oil change counter
*If your vehicle is equipped with an oil change reminder system, reset the counter. This can be done using an OBD-II scanner or by pressing and holding a specific combination of buttons on the car’s dashboard.
6. Cleaning
* Remove the stands from under the car.
* Wipe down all tools and work surfaces.
* Dispose of used oil and oil filter in accordance with local environmental regulations.
Note: The recommended oil change interval for the Mitsubishi Lancer CVT is 45,000 — 60,000 kilometers or every 2 years, whichever comes first.
