Location of automatic transmission temperature sensor on Mitsubishi Galant
The automatic transmission (transmission fluid) temperature sensor on the Mitsubishi Galant is usually located in the automatic transmission pan or in the valve body near the pan.
Sensor location by year of manufacture:*
* 1999-2003 Galant (sedan and hatchback): Located in the rear of the automatic transmission tray, on the passenger side.
* 2004-2012 Galant (sedan): Located in the valve body, next to the throttle body.
* 2013-2016 Galant (sedan): Located in the automatic transmission tray, on the driver’s side.
Access and replacement of the automatic transmission temperature sensor
1. Make sure the engine is turned off and the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
2. Raise the car with a jack and install supports.
3. Locate the automatic transmission temperature sensor according to the location indicated above.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.
5. Loosen the sensor mounting bolt using a wrench or socket.
6. Carefully remove the sensor from the housing.
7. Clean the sensor installation area from any dirt or debris.
8. Apply sealant to the threads of the new sensor.
9. Tighten the sensor by hand, then tighten an additional 1/4 turn with a wrench or socket.
10. Connect the electrical connector to the sensor.
11. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.
