Tools and materials:
* Screwdriver set
* 10 mm wrench
* 6 mm hex key
* New automatic transmission selector (if replacement is required)
* Transmission fluid (ATF)
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
Mercedes W210 automatic transmission selector repair procedure:
1. Remove the selector housing:
* Unscrew the two screws under the selector knob.
* Lift the cover and disconnect it from the console.
2. Remove the selector knob:
* Press the button on the handle and pull it up.
3. Remove the selector mount:
* Remove the two screws at the front and back of the mount.
* Press the latch and remove the fastener.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors:
* Disconnect the two electrical connectors from the selector lever.
5. Remove the automatic transmission selector:
* Remove the four hex bolts securing the selector to the bracket.
* Carefully remove the selector from its socket.
6. Replace the automatic transmission selector (if necessary):

13. Install the automatic transmission pan:

* Use a Mercedes scanner to diagnose automatic transmissions and reset fault codes.
