Functions of the Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission steering column switch
The Mercedes-Benz gearshift paddle is used for manual gear shifting in vehicles with an automatic transmission. It is located to the left of the steering wheel.
Main functions:
* Manual gear shifting: Slide the shifter up to shift to a lower gear and down to shift to a higher gear.
*Sport mode (+/-): If the vehicle is equipped with a sport mode, turning the switch to the “+” or “-” position activates the sport mode, which adjusts the shift points for more dynamic behavior.
* Parking Mode (P): Slide the switch to the “P” position to enable parking mode.
* Neutral (N): Move the switch to the “N” position to engage neutral.
*Manual Mode (M): Some vehicles are equipped with a Manual Mode, which is activated by turning the switch to the “M” position. This allows you to change gears manually using a shifter.
*Additional Features: On some models, switches may also have other features such as:
* Cruise control control
* Voice command control
* Media control
Peculiarities:
*Ergonomic: The switches are designed for comfortable use with the steering wheel.
* Intuitive: Symbols and switch positions are intuitive.
* Reliability: Switches are made of durable materials and are designed to last a long time.
Attention:
* Manual gear shifting should only be used in special cases, such as when overtaking or descending a mountain.
* Do not change gears too frequently or abruptly, as this may damage the transmission.
*Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific information on the functions and use of the steering column stalk.
