Using an automatic transmission in Mercedes-Benz cars

Mode selection:

* P (Parking): Used for parking or long stops (for example, at a traffic light).
* R (Reverse): Used to drive in reverse.
* N (Neutral): Used to tow a vehicle or as a temporary stop (for example, at a railroad crossing).
* D (Drive): Normal driving mode for most conditions.
*S (Sport): Provides a sportier driving experience with faster gear changes and a smoother ride.
* M (Manual): Allows the driver to manually change gears using the steering wheel paddles or gear lever.

Gear shift:

* Gear shifting occurs automatically depending on speed and load.
* In manual mode, the driver can use the steering wheel paddle shifters (+ for upshifts, – for downshifts) or move the gear lever forward (upshift) or backward (downshift).

Special Features:

* Tempomat: Allows you to maintain a set speed without having to press the gas pedal.
* Speedtronic: Limits the maximum speed the vehicle can reach.
* Eco???: Optimizes engine and transmission performance for improved fuel economy.

Adviсe:

* Always stop and shift the gearshift to P before leaving the vehicle.
*Be sure to come to a complete stop before shifting into reverse gear.
* Avoid shifting gears to neutral while driving.
* Use S mode for overtaking or driving in mountainous areas.
* Use manual mode for complete control over gear shifting, such as when towing or sport driving.
