The mechanical automatic transmission lock is a device that prevents unauthorized shifting of the gear lever out of the park (P) position.

Working principle:

* The lock mechanically connects the gear shift lever with the steering shaft or other fixed element of the vehicle.
* When the steering wheel is turned to a certain position (usually straight ahead), the lock is released and the gear shift lever can be moved to another position.
*If the steering wheel is not turned to the correct position, the gear shift lever will be locked.

Target:

* Prevent car theft by intruders who are trying to break into or damage the ignition switch.
* Prevent accidental gear shifting when parking the car.

Advantages:

* High degree of protection against burglary.
*Easy to use as no additional keys or operations are required.
* Hidden installation, usually inside the center console or under the steering column, making it difficult for intruders to detect.

Flaws:

* May be inconvenient or difficult to use when the vehicle is parked at an angle.
* Some people may find it difficult to get used to having to turn the steering wheel before changing gears.
* Relatively expensive option compared to other anti-theft devices.
