Mechanical Center Differential Lock
Required tools:
* Set of socket wrenches
* 12 mm head
* 14 mm spanner
* Special key for locking (the shape of the key may vary depending on the Prado 150 model)
Procedure:
1. Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Open the hood and locate the cylindrical center differential housing at the rear of the engine.
3. Inspect the differential housing and locate the hole for the locking key. The location of the hole may vary depending on the year and model of Prado 150.
4. Insert the special key into the hole and turn it 90 degrees clockwise to lock the differential.
5. Make sure the differential is locked by re-inspecting the key hole.
6. Close the hood and start the engine.
7. Check the locking function by driving on a slippery or uneven surface. You should feel that the wheels are connected to one axle.
Note:
* It is not recommended to lock the differential during normal driving. This can cause excessive wear on transmission components.
* Lock the differential only when necessary to overcome off-road conditions.
* After locking the differential, do not exceed the speed of 80 km/h. At higher speeds, the lock may not work correctly.
*After using the lock, turn the key counterclockwise 90 degrees to unlock the differential.
