Limit switch of the automatic transmission selector Mazda CX-5

Location:

The limit switch is located on the automatic transmission selector housing under the plastic cover.

Function:

* Controls the position of the automatic transmission selector
* Prevents engine starting if selector lever is not in park position

Replacement:

1. Open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the plastic cap of the automatic transmission selector lever.
3. Remove the decorative panel around the automatic transmission selector.
4. Unscrew the two screws securing the selector cover.
5. Remove the selector cover and disconnect the electrical wiring connector from the limit switch.
6. Unscrew the two screws securing the limit switch to the selector housing.
7. Remove the limit switch and install a new one in the reverse order.
8. Connect the electrical wiring connector.
9. Install the selector cover and tighten the screws.
10. Install the decorative panel and plastic cap.
11. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.

Required tools:

*Torx T25 screwdriver
* Phillips screwdriver
*Pliers

Notes:

* Replace the limit switch if it is faulty or damaged.
* Make sure the wiring is securely connected.
* After replacement, diagnose the automatic transmission selector system using a scanner.
