Replacing the Mazda automatic transmission filter
Required materials:
* New automatic transmission filter
* Transmission pan gasket (if required)
* Transmission fluid (ATF)
* Transmission pan
* Keys and screwdriver
Instructions:
1. Preparing the car
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
* Allow the engine to cool.
* Gather the necessary materials.
2. Draining transmission fluid
* Locate the transmission pan under the vehicle.
* Place a drain pan under the transmission.
* Loosen the drain plug and drain the transmission fluid into the pan.
3. Removing the transmission pan
*Once most of the fluid has drained, remove the bolts securing the transmission pan.
* Carefully remove the transmission pan.
*Remove old pan gasket if required.
4. Filter replacement
* Find the old automatic transmission filter inside the pan.
*Remove the old filter.
* Install the new filter and secure it with bolts.
5. Installing the transmission pan
* Install a new pan gasket if required.
* Reinstall the transmission pan.
* Tighten the pan mounting bolts.
6. Filling transmission fluid
* Locate the filler plug on the transmission.
* Pour new transmission fluid into the transmission using a funnel.
* Fill the fluid to the level indicated on the dipstick.
7. Checking the fluid level
* Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
* Shift the gear selector to all positions and return it to the park position.
* Check the fluid level on the dipstick. It should be between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks.
8. Reset adaptive settings
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for a few minutes.
* Reconnect the battery terminal.
* Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
9. Check for leaks
* Inspect under the vehicle for transmission fluid leaks.
* Tighten the transmission pan bolts if a leak is found.
Adviсe:
*Only use transmission fluid recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.
* Clean the magnets on the transmission pan as metal shavings may stick to them.
* Replace the automatic transmission filter in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
