Signs of a faulty automatic transmission brake band:

1. Transmission slipping
* Difficulty shifting gears, especially under load
* Engine speed increases, but the car does not accelerate
*Slippage only occurs in certain gears (usually 2nd or 3rd)

2. Shocks and jolts when shifting gears
* Severe impacts or jolts, especially when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear or 2nd to 3rd gear
*Shocks may be accompanied by vibration or noise

3. Gearbox slipping
* Momentary gear slippage, especially when upshifting
* Slippage can occur both at idle and under load

4. Transmission overheating
*Excessively high transmission fluid temperature
* Reset downshift or limp mode due to overheating

5. Burnt smell
* Specific smell of burnt friction material caused by slipping or slipping of the brake band

6. Drop in transmission fluid level
*Low transmission fluid levels due to seal leaks or damaged brake bands

7. Engine fault indicator
*A faulty brake band may cause the check engine light to come on as the transmission may not operate correctly
