Replacing the gearshift cable on a Renault Logan with automatic transmission

Tools and materials:

* New shift cable
* Wrench set
* Screwdriver
*Pliers

Instructions:

1. Disconnecting the battery

* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for safety.

2. Removing the center console control panel

* Unscrew the two bolts at the bottom of the center console panel.
* Gently pull the panel towards you to release it from the clips.
* Disconnect the electrical connectors from the panel.

3. Disconnecting the cable from the gear shift lever

* Crawl under the vehicle and locate the shift cable connected to the shift lever.
* Disconnect the cable from the lever by unscrewing the pinch bolt.

4. Disconnecting the cable from the gearbox

* Go to the engine compartment and locate the shift cable connected to the transmission.
* Unscrew the pinch bolt holding the cable to the gearbox.
* Disconnect the cable from the gearbox.

5. Removing the old cable

* Carefully remove the old cable from the engine compartment and through the vehicle interior.

6. Installing a new cable

* Thread the new cable into the engine compartment and through the interior.
* Connect the new cable to the gearbox and tighten the pinch bolt.
* Connect the other end of the cable to the gear shift lever and tighten the pinch bolt.

7. Assembly

* Reinstall the center console panel and secure it with bolts.
* Connect the electrical connectors to the panel.
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.

Examination:

* Start the engine and shift the gear lever to different positions.
* Make sure the gears shift smoothly and without sticking.
* If gear shifting is difficult or absent, check that the cable is installed and adjusted correctly.

Adviсe:

* Before starting work, remove the ring from your finger so that it does not get caught on the cable.
* Use new pinch bolts when installing a new cable.
* When handling the cable, be careful not to damage its outer sheath.
