Materials:
* New automatic transmission filter Lexus RX 300
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* Transmission fluid (ATF)
* Funnel
* Keys
* Socket heads
* ATF collection pan
* Rags
Tools:
1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. This will prevent short circuits during operation.
2. Remove the crankcase protection (if equipped). This will allow access to the transmission pan.
3. Install an ATP collection pan under the transmission. This will prevent spills during filter replacement.
4. Unscrew the automatic transmission pan bolts. Use a socket or wrench of the appropriate size to carefully remove the bolts.
5. Remove the automatic transmission pan from the vehicle. Be careful as there may be ATF inside. Drain the ATF into a collection pan.
6. Remove the old automatic transmission filter. Locate the filter in the pan and carefully pull it out.
7. Clean the automatic transmission pan. Remove any remaining ATF, gaskets, or other deposits from the pan.
8. Install a new automatic transmission pan gasket. Make sure the new gasket is installed correctly and has not moved.
9. Install a new automatic transmission filter. Insert the new filter into the pan and make sure it fits snugly.
10. Reinstall the automatic transmission pan onto the vehicle. Screw the pan bolts to the specified tightening torque.
11. Fill the transmission with new ATF. Use a funnel to fill the recommended type and volume of ATF.
12. Check ATF level. Start the engine and let it idle. Check the ATF level using the level indicator located on the transmission. If necessary, add ATF.
13. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
14. Drive the car and check that the transmission is operating correctly. Make sure gear shifts smoothly and there are no ATF leaks.
