Materials:

*Engine oil that meets your vehicle’s specifications (check your owner’s manual)
* New oil filter
* Drain plug and washer
* Tools:
* Drain plug wrench
* Funnel
* Oil filter wrench (optional)

Oil change process:

1. Warm up the engine: Start the car and let it run for a few minutes until the oil becomes less viscous.
2. Prepare the vehicle: Park on a level surface and set the vehicle to the parking brake.
3. Locate the drain plug: The drain plug is usually located at the bottom of the oil pan. Clean the area around the plug.
4. Drain the oil: Place a drain pan under the drain plug. Using a wrench, carefully loosen the plug and drain the oil. Let the oil drain completely.
5. Replace the drain plug: Clean the drain plug and washer, then install a new washer. Tighten the plug using a wrench without overtightening.
6. Replace the oil filter: Locate the oil filter and carefully unscrew it. Apply a small amount of new oil to the new filter gasket. Screw in the new filter by hand, then tighten it three-quarters of a turn with an oil filter wrench.
7. Add New Oil: Using a funnel, pour the recommended amount of new oil into the engine.
8. Check the oil level: Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean and reinsert it. Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. Add oil as necessary until it reaches the “Max” or “Full” mark.
9. Start the engine: Start the engine and run it for a few minutes to check for leaks.
