Required tools and materials:

* Wrench set
* Hex key
*Hydraulic lift
* Support stands
* Oil drain container
* Transmission fluid (amount depends on model)
* Automatic transmission filter (if replacement is required)
* Sealant for automatic transmission pan

Instructions:

1. Ensure safety: Set the vehicle’s parking brake and turn off the engine. Wait until the car cools down completely.

2. Raise the vehicle: Use a hydraulic lift to raise the front of the vehicle and install support stands under the front reference points.

3. Drain the automatic transmission fluid: Place an oil drain container under the automatic transmission pan. Unscrew the drain plug and drain the automatic transmission fluid into a container.

4. Remove the automatic transmission wiring connector: Find the electrical wiring connector connected to the automatic transmission and disconnect it.

5. Disconnect the driveshaft: Remove the bolt connecting the driveshaft to the transmission. Move the driveshaft to the side to make room for access to the automatic transmission.

6. Remove the drive shafts: Unscrew the nuts securing the drive shafts to the wheels. Pull the drive shafts out of the wheel hubs using a splined joint.

7. Disconnect the gear selector: Locate and disconnect the cables or gear selector levers connected to the automatic transmission.

8. Remove the starter: Unscrew the starter mounting bolts and remove it.

9. Remove the automatic transmission bolts: Use a wrench and hex key to remove all the bolts that secure the automatic transmission to the engine and frame.

10. Separate the transmission from the engine: Using a special transmission puller or crowbar, carefully separate the transmission from the rear of the engine.

11. Replace the automatic transmission filter: If necessary, unscrew the automatic transmission pan, replace the automatic transmission filter and install a new sealing gasket.

12. Install the new automatic transmission: Lift and align the new automatic transmission with the engine. Carefully install the gearbox into place.

13. Tighten the automatic transmission mounting bolts: Tighten all mounting bolts in the sequence specified in the repair manual for the specific model.

14. Install the starter: Install the starter and tighten the mounting bolts.

15. Connect the gear selector: Connect the cables or gear selector levers to the automatic transmission.

16. Install the drive shafts: Insert the drive shafts into the wheel hubs and tighten the nuts.

17. Connect the driveshaft: Slide the driveshaft into place and tighten the mounting bolt.

18. Connect the automatic transmission wiring connector: Connect the electrical wiring connector to the automatic transmission.

19. Fill the automatic transmission fluid: Fill the automatic transmission with the recommended type and amount of transmission fluid.

20. Lower the vehicle: Slowly lower the vehicle from the jackstands.

21. Check the automatic transmission fluid level: Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check the automatic transmission fluid level using the dipstick and add if necessary.

22. Reset the automatic transmission adaptive values: Some models require you to reset the automatic transmission adaptive values ​​after replacing the transmission. Refer to your repair manual for specific instructions.
