Replacing the speed sensor of a Kia Spectra with automatic transmission
Tools:
* 12 mm wrench
* Pliers
* Rags
Materials:
* New speed sensor
Replacement process:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal: Start by disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery to prevent short circuit.
2. Locate the speed sensor: The speed sensor is located at the rear of the transmission, near the speedometer cable.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector: Gently press the latch on the speed sensor electrical connector and disconnect it.
4. Remove the speed sensor: Using a 12mm wrench, remove the bolt holding the speed sensor in place.
5. Pull out the speed sensor: Using pliers, carefully pull the speed sensor out of the transmission.
6. Compare the new and old sensor: Compare the new speed sensor with the old one to make sure they are the same.
7. Install the new speed sensor: Insert the new speed sensor into the hole in the transmission.
8. Tighten the bolt: Tighten the bolt using a 12mm wrench. Don’t tighten it too much.
9. Connect the electrical connector: Connect the electrical connector to the speed sensor.
10. Connect the battery terminal: Connect the negative terminal of the battery that you disconnected earlier.
11. Clear the trouble code: If the trouble code related to the speed sensor is illuminated on your dashboard, use an OBD2 scanner to clear it.
