Tools and materials:
* New speed sensor
* 19 mm spanner
* 13 mm socket wrench or open-end ratchet wrench
* Clean rag
* Thread sealant (optional)
Replacement procedure:
1. Safety first:
* Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent short circuit.
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Locating the speed sensor:
* The speed sensor is usually located on the transmission near the speedometer drive shaft.
3. Disconnecting the electrical connector:
* Locate the speed sensor electrical connector and disconnect it by pressing the latch and pulling it.
4. Unscrewing the speed sensor:
*Using a 19mm wrench, remove the bolt securing the speed sensor to the transmission.
* Be careful not to drop the bolt into the gearbox.
5. Removing the speed sensor:
*Using a 13mm Allen key or open-end ratchet wrench, carefully remove the speed sensor from the transmission.
* Do not use excessive force as this may damage the gearbox.
6. Cleaning the sensor seat:
* Clean the speed sensor seat on the transmission with a clean cloth.
7. Applying sealant (optional):
* Apply a small amount of thread sealant to the threads of the new speed sensor. This will help create a seal and prevent leakage.
8. Installing a new speed sensor:
* Insert the new speed sensor into the seat on the transmission.
* Tighten the speed sensor mounting bolt with a 19mm wrench.
* Tighten the bolt to 19 Nm.
9. Electrical connector connection:
* Connect the electrical connector to the speed sensor.
* Make sure the connector is securely latched.
10. Completing the assembly:
* Reinstall the negative battery cable.
* Verify that the speed sensor is working correctly by driving the vehicle.
Adviсe:
*If you have difficulty removing the old speed sensor, you can lightly tap it with a hammer to loosen it.
* When installing a new speed sensor, make sure the O-ring is in place.
*After replacing the speed sensor, clear engine trouble codes if they were set.
