Tools and materials:
* Set of keys
* Ratchet
* Extensions
* Funnel
* Fresh gear oil (type specified in the owner’s manual)
* New automatic transmission filter
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* Oil drain container
Procedure:
Disconnecting the battery
1. Move the gear shift lever to the “P” (park) position.
2. Turn off the engine and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Draining oil from automatic transmission
1. Place a container under the automatic transmission pan to collect oil.
2. Loosen the pan drain plug using a wrench or ratchet and unscrew it by hand.
3. Wait until the oil has completely drained into the container.
Removing the automatic transmission pan
1. After the oil has drained, clean the pan and the adjacent surface of the automatic transmission housing from old sealant.
2. Unscrew the pallet mounting bolts using a wrench or ratchet.
3. Carefully remove the pan from the automatic transmission housing, draining the remaining oil.
Replacing the automatic transmission filter
1. Remove the old filter from the automatic transmission housing.
2. Place the new filter in place.
Automatic transmission pan installation
1. Apply new sealant to the contact surface of the pan and the automatic transmission housing.
2. Reinstall the pan and tighten the mounting bolts.
3. Replace the drain plug and tighten it with a wrench or ratchet.
Filling new oil in the automatic transmission
1. Using a funnel, pour fresh transmission oil into the automatic transmission through the filler plug.
2. Add enough oil so that the level reaches halfway between the “Min” and “Max” marks on the automatic transmission dipstick.
3. Reinstall the filler plug and tighten it with a wrench or ratchet.
Battery connection
1. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Start the engine and let it idle for several minutes, moving the gearshift lever through all positions.
3. Check the oil level in the automatic transmission using a dipstick and add oil if necessary.
Note:
* When removing and installing the automatic transmission pan, be careful not to damage the transmission parts.
* Be sure to use a new automatic transmission filter and pan gasket during assembly.
