Step 1: Gathering Materials
* Automatic transmission engine oil recommended for your vehicle (check your owner’s manual)
* New automatic transmission oil filter
* New automatic transmission pan or gasket, if required
* Socket wrench or socket wrench
* Drain plug key
* Funnel
* Waste oil container
Step 2: Safety First
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
* Allow the engine to cool for at least 30 minutes to avoid burns.
Step 3: Drain the used oil
* Locate the drain plug at the bottom of the automatic transmission oil pan.
* Place a waste oil container under the drain plug.
* Carefully unscrew the drain plug and drain the used oil into a container.
*Wait until the oil is completely drained.
Step 4: Replacing the automatic transmission oil filter
* Locate the automatic transmission oil filter, usually located in the oil pan.
* Carefully remove the bolts or latches holding the filter in place.
*Remove the old filter and install a new one.
* Tighten the bolts or latches to the specified torque.
Step 5: Install a New Oil Pan or Gasket (If Needed)
*If required, remove the old oil pan or gasket.
* Clean the mating surface and apply gasket sealant (if necessary).
* Install a new oil pan or gasket and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
Step 6: Filling with New Oil
* Insert a funnel into the hole for the automatic transmission dipstick.
* Fill the automatic transmission with the recommended amount of oil.
* Check the oil level using the automatic transmission dipstick. The level should be between the “min” and “max” marks.
Step 7: Completion
* Install the drain plug and tighten it to the specified torque.
* Start the engine and shift the gear selector through all positions to distribute the new oil.
* Check the oil level again and add if necessary.
* Reset the automatic transmission service counter (if equipped).
