When to change the Kia Cerato automatic transmission filter:
* Every 60,000 – 90,000 km or every 4 – 6 years, whichever comes first.
*If you have problems shifting gears.
* When a leak occurs from the automatic transmission.
* When replacing automatic transmission fluid.
Required tools:
* Open-end wrench 10 mm
* Open-end wrench 19 mm
* 6 mm hex key
* New automatic transmission filter
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* New automatic transmission fluid (optional)
Steps to replace the Kia Cerato automatic transmission filter:
1. Raise the vehicle on a lift or use a jack and safety stands.
2. Unscrew the automatic transmission pan drain plug using a 19 mm open-end wrench and drain the automatic transmission fluid into a container.
3. Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan using a 10 mm open-end wrench.
4. Remove the automatic transmission pan and drain the remaining automatic transmission fluid.
5. Remove the old automatic transmission filter and replace it with a new one.
6. Install a new automatic transmission pan gasket onto the pan.
7. Reinstall the automatic transmission pan and tighten the fastening bolts.
8. Fill in new automatic transmission fluid through the dipstick hole.
9. Check the automatic transmission fluid level and add if necessary.
10. Start the engine and engage all gears to ensure proper operation of the automatic transmission.
Note: When replacing the automatic transmission fluid, it is recommended to also replace the drain plug gasket.
