D (Drive): Normal driving mode in which the vehicle shifts through all gears for optimal performance.

N (Neutral): Neutral position in which the transmission is not engaged. The car will not move when you press the gas pedal.

R (Reverse): Reverse, in which the vehicle moves backwards.

P (Park): A parking position in which the transmission is locked and the wheels cannot rotate.

S (Sport): A sport mode that holds gears longer, providing quicker response and acceleration.

L (Low): A low gear used to increase torque and slow the vehicle without using the brakes, such as when going down a hill.

+ and – (manual shift): Allows you to manually shift gears up or down.
