It is usually not recommended to shift the automatic transmission while driving. This may damage the transmission. However, in some cases, changing gears may be acceptable or even necessary:

Safely downshifting:

* When driving on steep inclines to improve vehicle control and prevent brake overheating.
* When towing a load to increase traction.

Transition to Neutral (N):

* To save fuel when idling, for example in a traffic jam or waiting at a traffic light.
* For towing a vehicle with the engine running.

Transition to parking (P):

*When the vehicle comes to a complete stop for parking.

Important to remember:

* Do not shift the transmission while driving unless required for safety reasons.
* Shift into neutral or park only when the vehicle is completely stopped.
*Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for operating your vehicle.
