Required materials:
* Automatic transmission selector position sensor
* Collar
* Socket wrenches or ratchet sockets
* Pliers
* Electrical tape
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the battery. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent a short circuit.
2. Find the automatic transmission selector position sensor. It is usually located next to the gear selector, under the dashboard.
3. Disconnect the sensor connectors. Locate the connectors connected to the sensor and carefully disconnect them.
4. Unscrew the sensor. Use a socket wrench or socket to remove the bolts holding the sensor to the transmission or bracket.
5. Remove the old sensor. Carefully pull the old sensor out of its place.
6. Install a new sensor. Insert the new sensor in place of the old one, making sure it is oriented correctly.
7. Tighten the sensor bolts. Tighten the bolts securing the sensor to the torque specified in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
8. Connect the sensor connectors. Connect the connectors to the sensor, matching the marks or colors of the wires.
9. Check the sensor operation. Shift the gear selector to all positions and check that the instrument panel correctly displays the selected gear.
10. Connect the battery. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery to restore power.
