Required materials:
* Additional automatic transmission cooling heat exchanger
*Tubes and fittings
* Transmission fluid ATF
* Automatic transmission oil filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Sealant
* Tools for working with automatic transmission
Installation procedure:
1. Prepare the vehicle: Raise the vehicle on a lift or use jacks to provide access to the underside of the vehicle. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the automatic transmission pan: Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan and carefully remove it. Drain the remaining transmission fluid into a clean container.
3. Replace the automatic transmission oil filter and pan gasket: Clean the surface of the automatic transmission pan and install a new gasket. Insert the new oil filter into the automatic transmission housing.
4. Install an additional automatic transmission cooling heat exchanger: Find a suitable place to install the additional heat exchanger and secure it. Connect the inlet and outlet pipes to the heat exchanger.
5. Connect the tubes to the automatic transmission: Connect the tubes from the additional heat exchanger to the automatic transmission cooling lines. Use the fittings and tighten them to the appropriate torque.
6. Replace ATF: Fill the automatic transmission with fresh ATF. The amount of fluid depends on the automatic transmission model, so check the repair manual.
7. Check the ATF fluid level: Warm up the engine and shift the automatic transmission selector through all gears. Check the ATF fluid level using a dipstick or diagnostic tool. Adjust fluid level as needed.
8. Install the automatic transmission pan: Apply sealant to the new pan gasket and install the pan in place. Tighten the bolts to the appropriate torque.
9. Check for leaks: Start the engine and let it idle. Check the automatic transmission pan and pipe connections for leaks.
10. Reset automatic transmission adaptations: After installing additional cooling, it is recommended to reset automatic transmission adaptations using a diagnostic tool. This will allow the automatic transmission to adapt to the new level of cooling.
Notes:
* To ensure proper cooling, it is recommended to use a heat exchanger with a large coolant volume and high heat transfer efficiency.
* Double check all pipe connections and fittings to avoid transmission fluid leaks.
* It is recommended that you see a qualified mechanic if you do not have experience with automatic transmissions.
* After installing additional cooling, carefully monitor the ATF level and condition.
